Make sure you are eating 5 to 6 small meals a day and drink plenty of water. It is important to eat every two to four hours so your body is not left guessing when it is going to be fed again.
When you skip meals your body slows all its functions down to sustain on the resources it has in the system. (slowing your metabolism) Skipping meals also causes your body to feed off itself by going to stored muscle not stored fat. Lean muscle is a fat burning source therefore you want to preserve your muscle.
I have put a list of easy-to-prepare, tasty treats for you to snack on when the urge strikes.
Snacking is not a bad word if you are careful about what goes in your mouth. Here are a few ideas to boost your metabolism:
- Cut up veggies with hummus or a balsamic dressing
- Sliced fruit with nonfat Greek yogurt
- A few almonds or walnuts (1/4 cup is a great guide to not overdo it)
- Low-fat cottage cheese by itself or mixed with your favorites
- Air-popped popcorn
- Hard-boiled eggs
- Cooked oatmeal with slivered almonds, peanut butter and even a sprinkle of chocolate protein
- String cheese
- Homemade smoothies or fruit shakes
I use Saturday and Sunday to shop, wash, cut, measure and bag my food for the week.
Stick to a sensible serving size and you will be good to go… Remember be creative these are just a few ideas create your own fun ideas and make sure to share them with us.

When you say you prep food on Sunday, what do you do exactly? Bag 7 days of veggies, cook chicken breasts? I need a step by step. Thanks so much!

I will decide what my menu for the week will be and then I cook, cut, measure and bag my food in bags or containers for the week. 7 bags of veggies, nuts, chicken, fish, fruit… Hope this helps out but please let me know if it does not,

Do each meal for the 5-6 meals a day include the 2 fist of 1 protein and the other carbs? Or is it only for a few of the meals?

Thanks for writing! Every meal should contain one fist protein and one fist carb. Remember carbs are not only rice, oatmeal and potatoes but also includes fruits and veggies. Hope this helps, Kat

Is there one specific fruit you recommend that would be best to keep you fuller longer?
